Rakesh Jhunjhunwala died from cardiac arrest at the age of 62 in Mumbai. The Akasa Air Co-founder had a net worth of 5.8 billion USD and had invested in over three dozen companies, including Titan, Fortis Healthcare, Tata Motors, and Metro. He was also the Chairman of Hungama Media.
A Chartered Accountant by qualification, he started investing in stock markets with Rs. 5000 when Sensex rated 150. He bought 5,000 shares of Tata Tea at Rs. 43, which later earned him three times the profit.
"The Big Bull of Dalal Street" was not only an indomitable veteran investor but also a kind-hearted and caring individual. He donated 25% of his wealth to charity and was building an eye hospital to carry out 15,000 eye surgeries free of cost.
