Adani Group’s surprising acquisition of NDTV
In the freshest acquisition by Adani Group, it has taken over a 29.18% stake in the news media company, NDTV.
The entire acquisition deal started with the NDTV founders, Prannoy and Radhika Roy taking a loan of $50 million from VCPL to buy a 29.18% stake in NDTV against which they issued a warrant declaring that the company would indirectly own the stakes.
Now, with VCPL being owned by Adani Group, the stakes are also shifted under it. The news agency was given 2 days to transfer all the owned shares to the Group after which the multinational conglomerate generated an offer of another 26% of the stakes being transferred to it for ₹493 crores which would give it a total of 5.18% holding in the company.
